A statement from The White House on March 1, 2026 read:
“In a bold and necessary exercise of American strength, President Donald J. Trump authorized Operation Epic Fury — a precise, overwhelming military campaign to eliminate the imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime, destroy its ballistic missile arsenal, degrade its proxy terror networks, and cripple its naval forces.”
It continued, “This operation, executed in partnership with regional allies, follows exhaustive diplomatic efforts and comes after 47 years of Iranian aggression — including attacks on U.S. citizens, sponsorship of global terrorism, and brutal oppression of its own people.”
A ‘New York Post’ cover image was also posted, with the caption “Death to the Devil.” The cover story revealed, ”Iran’s tyrannical Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed Saturday in an unprecedented, joint military attack by the US and Israel called Operation Epic Fury — which President Trump said would give Iranians their ‘greatest chance’ to ‘take back the country.'”
”Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead,” Trump declared on Truth Social about 15 hours after the start of the onslaught. “This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS” he wrote.

“The mission of Operation Epic Fury is laser focused. Destroy Iranian offensive missiles, destroy Iranian missile production, destroy their navy and other security infrastructure, and they will never have nuclear weapons. We’re hitting them surgically, overwhelmingly, and unapologetically. With every passing day, our capabilities get stronger and Iran’s get weaker. We set the terms of this war from start to finish. Our ambitions are not utopian. They are realistic, scoped to our interests and the defense of our people and our allies. Speaking of people, we hope the Iranian people take advantage of this incredible opportunity. President Trump has been clear. Now is your time. To Iran Iranian security forces, choose wisely. President Trump has also been clear about your fate in either direction. To the media outlets and political left screaming endless wars, stop. This is not Iraq. This is not endless. I was there for both. Our generation knows better and so does this president. He called the last 20 years of nation building wars dumb and he’s right. This is the opposite. This operation is a clear, devastating, decisive mission. Destroy the missile threat. Destroy the Navy. No nukes.”

Former Clinton advisor Mark Penn: “The time is now Iran has terrorized the world for nearly 50 years with its demonization of the west and the creation of a terror state that long ago lost the support of its own people. They gunned down tens of thousands of their own people believing they could do it and nothing would happen to them. The actions of President Trump are a heroic turn of events in which the regime that had as its ambition to conquer the region will face destruction and not be allowed to continue to suppress its own people while threatening the world.While Obama and Biden enabled Iran, Trump drew a red line and meant it. This is a just cause and we must all support our military in this effort that has been clearly planned and thought out as never before. May they be successful in making this a more peaceful and better world.”
