Schuyler Thornton Awarded Top Spot In Event #1 At 2020 MDH After ICM Chop

Biloxi, MS : Event #1 of the 2020 Million Dollar Heater at The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino concluded just after midnight Sunday evening when the final seven players from a field of 2,612 agreed to an ICM chop. The massive four-flight field generated a total prize pool of $861,960 with $103,318 for top spot. After chip stacks were verified and all players agreed, Schuyler Thornton, who has over $1,000,000 in reported live earnings on the Hendon Mob poker database, was declared the winner and claimed the adjusted first place prize of $64,040.

“It was a lot of fun. I ran really well all tournament…had a couple of bumps in the road, but never had any really tough spots. Every time I did lose a pot, they were small pots, which is key obviously.”

Thornton won’t be able to make the $2,000 High Roller Event this weekend. “I live in Dallas and my girlfriend has been out of town for six weeks so I need to get back. I’ll be in Choctaw next weekend. They have a WSOP main.”

Tuscaloosa, Al., native Edmund Sexton Jr. topped 157 entrants in last year’s MDH $2,700 Main Event for $105,282.

Play continues at “The Beau” today (January 5th) with the $300 Heads up No-Limit Hold’em Event at 11:00 a.m., a $300 No-Limit Hold’em single day event at 1:00 p.m., and a $300 Limit Omaha 8 Or Better Event #6 at 5:00 p.m.
